Description
- Lead the day-to-day accounting operations of the manufacturing entity and ensure the general ledger is accurate, complete and closed on schedule (monthly, quarterly and annually);
- Supervise, coach and review the work of accountants responsible for fixed assets, inventory, payables, receivables, payroll and bank/cash operations;
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with national accounting standards and IFRS, and ensure full compliance with the Tax Code and relevant legislation;
- Oversee accounting for excise duty and excise stamps on tobacco products, including recording of stamp acquisition, issuance to production, usage, write-off, damage and reconciliation of stamp inventory with production and sales volumes;
- Prepare and submit statutory tax returns (VAT, excise, profit tax, withholding tax, payroll taxes and social contributions) and statistical reports within legal deadlines;
- Control production cost accounting: leaf tobacco and non-tobacco material consumption, work-in-progress, standard versus actual cost, production variances and finished goods valuation;
- Ensure correct accounting treatment of imports of tobacco leaf, filters, wrapping materials and spare parts, including customs duties, VAT on imports and foreign currency transactions;
- Organise and control periodic physical stocktakes of raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods, excise stamps and fixed assets, and account for identified surpluses, shortages and write-offs;
- Reconcile intercompany, supplier, customer, bank and tax authority balances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner;
- Review contracts, invoices, e-invoices (e-qaimə) and payment documents for accounting, tax and documentation compliance before approval;
- Prepare monthly financial statements and closing packages for management, the group and external stakeholders;
- Act as the main contact for external auditors and tax inspections, prepare requested documentation and implement audit recommendations;
- Develop and update accounting policies, chart of accounts, internal control procedures and workflow instructions;
- Support the implementation, configuration and correct use of the ERP/accounting system (e.g. 1C, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and drive automation of accounting processes;
- Provide accounting data and explanations to the Finance Manager / Chief Accountant for budgeting, forecasting and management reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Higher education in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a lead, senior or supervisory role; manufacturing (preferably tobacco, FMCG, food or beverage) experience is strongly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of national accounting standards, IFRS and the Tax Code, including excise taxation and excise stamp regulations.
- Practical experience with production cost accounting, inventory valuation and standard costing in a manufacturing environment.
- Confident user of ERP/accounting systems ( SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with electronic tax and invoicing platforms (Internet Tax Office, e-invoicing systems).
- Professional certification (ACCA, CIPA, CPA or partial qualification) is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work accurately under closing deadlines.
- Fluent Azerbaijani; good command of English;
