Instrumentation Expert

The Instrumentation Expert – HES/MDMS (EVC & Sensor Analytics) is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and visualizing EVC (Electronic Volume Corrector) data and pressure/temperature sensor outputs within the Smart Gas AMI ecosystem. The role ensures accurate, timely, and actionable insights that help identify anomalies, optimize network performance, support UFG reduction efforts, and improve meter data accuracy. Reporting to the Technical Lead, the role supports multiple technical streams including HES, MDM, UFG, Integration, Simulation, and Contact Center Analytics.

• Monitor and analyze EVC data including corrected volume, uncorrected volume, pressure, temperature, compressibility, alarms, and events.

• Identify data quality issues such as missing intervals, abnormal patterns, device misconfiguration, or incorrect correction factors.

• Track performance of pressure and temperature sensors, detecting sudden drops, spikes, or abnormal fluctuations.

• Support UFG analysis by correlating sensor and EVC behavior with consumption patterns and network segments.

• Develop and maintain Power BI or Grafana dashboards for EVC trends, sensor KPIs, communication health, and event patterns.

• Publish daily/weekly dashboards and provide analytical insights to Technical Lead, PMO, and Operations.

• Configure threshold-based alerts for low pressure, high pressure, battery alarms, communication failures, and abnormal readings.

• Validate EVC and sensor data flow from device to HES and HES to MDM, ensuring accurate OBIS mapping and completeness.

• Support integration and testing of new EVC models, sensors, firmware updates, and communication modules.

• Analyze exceptions such as tamper alarms, reverse flow, volume correction failures, and sensor malfunctions.

• Provide structured datasets and insights to UFG and Simulation Engine teams for loss modeling and scenario analysis.

• Assist simulation teams by supplying pressure/temperature history, load curves, and anomaly profiles.

• Document analytical procedures, dashboard logic, device data models, and escalation paths.

• Prepare weekly/monthly KPI reports for Technical Lead and PMO.

• Ensure proper data governance, documentation, and dataset version control across all analytical outputs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation), Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in utility analytics, AMI systems, SCADA/Telemetry, or IoT analytics.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, Grafana, or other dashboarding tools. Knowledge of EVCs, pressure/temperature sensors, gas metering principles, and correction factors is preferred.
• Understanding of AMI architecture including HES, MDM, and integration flows.
• Experience working with device alarms, telemetry, and operational KPIs
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause identification skills.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and visualization skills.
• Professional working proficiency in Azerbaijani and English (Russian is an advantage)
