Senior QA Engineer

The National Artificial Intelligence Center (NAIC), operating under the Transport and Communication Holding ("AZCON Holding"), promotes research and development in the field of artificial intelligence in Azerbaijan. The Center aims to accelerate digital transformation through the implementation and scaling of AI technologies.

At NAIC, we're looking for a Senior QA Engineer who leads by example - someone who doesn't just maintain quality standards but defines them. You'll architect our testing strategy from the ground up, mentor engineers across QA team, and serve as the quality authority on every product we ship.

In this role, you won't just be "finding bugs" - you'll be the engineering organization's quality conscience: bridging product, development, and business to ensure that quality is built in, not bolted on.

YOUR MISSION & IMPACT:

• Own and drive the end-to-end QA strategy across multiple products, ensuring alignment with engineering and business objectives.
• Architect scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks using JavaScript/TypeScript with tools like Playwright, Selenium, or WebdriverIO.
• Implement BDD practices (Cucumber) by collaborating directly with product owners to translate complex business requirements into precise, executable test scenarios.
• Lead the design and optimization of automated testing pipelines in CI/CD (GitLab), balancing speed, coverage, and reliability at every stage of delivery.
• Define and enforce API testing standards (Postman/Swagger) and drive performance engineering initiatives (JMeter/k6) to ensure system resilience at scale.
• Mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality ownership that extends across the entire engineering organization.
• Lead sprint planning, risk assessments, and architectural reviews - providing expert input on testability, failure modes, and long-term product reliability before a single line of code is written.
• Establish quality metrics and reporting frameworks that make system health visible and actionable for stakeholders at all levels.

YOU'RE THE PERFECT FIT IF:

• You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• You bring 5+ years of QA engineering experience, with a strong focus on test automation.
• You have deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript-based automation and a strong, well-reasoned opinion on what good test architecture looks like.
• You have expertise in mobile testing and related frameworks and tools like Appium, Xcode, Android Studio, etc.
• You're proficient in API testing, SQL-based data validation, performance testing, and root-cause analysis using DevTools and monitoring tools.
• You've designed and owned QA processes end-to-end - from strategy and tooling selection through to team enablement and execution.
• You have a strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build systems using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or similar tools.
• You have knowledge about containerization tools like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• You think at the systems level: you anticipate failure modes, surface quality risks early, and influence engineering decisions upstream.
• You communicate with clarity and confidence in both Azerbaijani and English, and have experience aligning cross-functional stakeholders around quality goals.
• You pursue continuous growth - whether through certifications like ISTQB Advanced, staying ahead of industry trends, or raising the bar for those around you.
