Legal And Compliance Lead

The core area of expertise falls under utilities grid digital transformation. As we expand our presence in Azerbaijan, we are seeking a Head of Legal and Compliance to provide legal advice to our leadership, manage external relationships and compliance function. This role will provide strategic legal advice, ensure regulatory compliance, and support business expansion into new regions while safeguarding corporate governance and ethical standards.

Provide expert legal advice to senior leadership and business units.

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents; manage contract lifecycle and internal approvals.

Research and advise on legal and compliance requirements for new markets, ensuring country-specific regulations are met during business expansion.

Manage litigation, disputes, and relationships with external counsel.

Monitor and advise on local and international regulatory changes affecting business operations, including data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity compliance.

Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and investigations into compliance breaches, recommending corrective actions.

Maintain corporate governance standards and support board activities.

Liaise with regulators, government agencies, and other external stakeholders as required.

Collaborate with cross-functional departments including HR, Finance, and Operations.

Lead, mentor, and develop the legal and compliance team.

Qualifications & Experience:

Law degree (LLB or equivalent); Master’s or professional certifications preferred

Minimum 8 years of legal and compliance experience, ideally in a regulated industry Strong knowledge of corporate law, regulatory frameworks, and risk management

Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills

Fluent in Azerbaijani and English (written and spoken); Russian is an advantage.
